RoGold V2 is coming this October

To be clear to Ultimate Users, you will not be losing any perks. V2 is a major update with tons of new features for Ultimate Users aswell as free users. All tiers will gain a major boost from this update.

This October, RoGold is opening up to everyone.

RoGold V2 brings the complete RoGold Ultimate redesign, our custom Roblox interface and the all-in-one RoGold experience to every user for free. You will not need a subscription, and you will not even need to create a RoGold account to use the redesign.

For existing Ultimate users, parts of V2 will already feel familiar. The difference is that the experience will no longer be limited to subscribers. V2 makes it the new foundation of RoGold for everyone.

The complete redesign, for free

The main goal of V2 is simple. We want everyone to experience Roblox, their way.

Logged-out users will be able to use the redesign and customise how Roblox looks and feels without creating an account. The interface will not be a limited preview with its most important options disabled. It will be the full RoGold redesign, available from the moment the extension is installed.

RoGold V2 is designed to improve the entire Roblox website rather than adding one isolated feature. It brings our interface, navigation, customisation and wider collection of tools together as one extension.

Whether you want to change the way Roblox looks, reorganise parts of the interface or access useful additions across different pages, V2 is intended to provide that experience without requiring payment.

One extension, ready from launch

RoGold V2 will not be released as another separate extension.

The current RoGold Ultimate extension will be merged into the existing free RoGold extension, bringing the redesign, custom interface and wider collection of features together in one place.

If you already have the free RoGold extension installed, V2 will arrive as a normal extension update. You will not need to search for a new download, reinstall RoGold or complete any additional setup. Once the update is available, you can open Roblox and begin using V2 immediately.

Ultimate subscribers will use the same extension, with their additional features recognised after signing in to their RoGold account.

The aim is to make the launch as simple as possible. One RoGold extension, automatically updated and ready to use.

When is it out?

We are hard at work on RoGold V2 and currently aim to release it in October.

We are not announcing a specific date just yet. We want to be confident that V2 is ready before committing to one, so we will provide a firmer release date as development gets closer to completion.

Between now and launch, we will regularly share teasers, interface previews, feature reveals and more information about what is changing. We will also publish a complete breakdown of what is available without an account, what a free RoGold account adds and what remains part of RoGold Ultimate.

This announcement is only the beginning. There is plenty more to show before RoGold V2 launches.

Use RoGold with or without an account

With V2, anyone will be able to install RoGold and use the complete redesign, custom interface and wider collection of features without paying or creating an account.

Some features, including basic playtime tracking, need to save information against a specific user. To use these, you will need to sign in to a free RoGold account through Roblox’s OAuth system.

This means there will be two ways to use RoGold for free:

• Install RoGold and use the complete redesign without creating an account

• Create a free RoGold account for additional features, saved information and supported synchronisation. This includes features such as basic playtime tracking.

In both cases, the core RoGold V2 experience will remain completely free.

What happens to RoGold Ultimate?

RoGold Ultimate is not going away. It will remain a central part of RoGold after V2 launches.

While V2 makes the complete redesign and a much larger collection of features available for free, Ultimate will continue to offer the fullest RoGold experience. It will be home to our most advanced, distinctive and ambitious features, including deeper functionality, more powerful creative tools and services supported by RoGold’s infrastructure.

V2 is not about stripping Ultimate down. It is about making the free version genuinely worth using while being more deliberate about what belongs in a subscription.

Some features will remain part of Ultimate because they create significant ongoing costs through processing, synchronisation and long-term storage. Others will remain because they offer a level of depth, flexibility or functionality that gives Ultimate clear additional value.

Ultimate subscriptions also allow us to continue operating RoGold, developing larger features and investing in improvements for both free and paid users.

Before V2 launches, we will publish a complete comparison explaining what is included at each level. We want existing subscribers to understand exactly what Ultimate will offer and feel confident that it remains worth subscribing to.

Why do some features still need to be paid?

Detailed playtime tracking is one of the clearest examples.

A free account can preserve broader totals and selected information without requiring us to store every detail of someone’s activity. Which means it's very cheap to store.

The complete playtime system is much larger. It can include:

• A full yearly playtime heatmap

• Every individual play session

• Exact join and leave times

• Complete server history

• Searching and comparing previous activity

• Detailed playtime exports

The heatmap itself may look simple, but producing it requires RoGold to regularly receive activity updates, process them into sessions and store that history over a long period.

When thousands of people use the system, the amount of data grows quickly. It creates a real cost that continues for as long as the feature is available.

Advanced features like these will remain part of Ultimate. The same will apply to other features which depend heavily on our servers, require significant storage, create an ongoing operating cost, or are considered as a premium feature.

This allows us to make the entire interface and as many features as possible free without making RoGold unsustainable.

What happens next?

Over the coming weeks, up until release, we will show more of the RoGold V2 interface and reveal the features included at launch.
